My Eureka Moment

I’m not covering a stock, a sector, or an investment philosophy today.

I want to share something much bigger instead.

It’s hope.

I know I’ve written a lot about President Donald Trump this week, but please bear with me while I “go there” one more time. I mean to make it worth your while.

What happened and almost happened on Saturday to a man I personally know hit me hard. And it’s taken several days to come to terms with it all.

But yesterday afternoon, while I was juggling too many tasks to list here, I had a true eureka experience.

It was like a literal lightbulb went off in my head, and I suddenly saw everything clearly: what an enormous game changer the failed assassination attempt really was. Not just for Trump, but for America and perhaps even the world.

Does that sound grandiose? Maybe even insane?

I don’t think it is at all.

Let me explain. Then you can come to your own conclusions….

A New Outlook on Life

There’s a computer-generated 3D visualization making the internet rounds right now of the trajectory the attempted assassin’s bullet took this weekend. Maybe you watched it yourself.

I did, and it’s awe-inspiring.

The graphic, composed by social media account Point Consciousness, shows a bird’s-eye view of where Trump would have been hit if he hadn’t turned his head at the perfect split second.

Without going into the graphic details, let me make it clear. Trump would have been dead.

He should have been dead.

But he’s not.

Knowing Trump the way I do, I can tell you right now that he recognizes the magnitude of what just happened. Moreover, he’s not about to let it go to waste.

Does that last statement sound ominous?

It shouldn’t. What I’m trying to say is that Trump just had one of the biggest “come to Jesus” moments a man can possibly have. And it’s going to transform how he operates.

As he wrote on Truth Social the day after the attack:

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiance in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.

In this moment it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win.

I truly love our Country and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.

It’s not that he didn’t believe in a higher power before. Or care about America. Or want to see “evil” go down in flames.

However, I think it’s more than safe to say he’s got a brand-new perspective on all of that. On life itself and how it’s best handled.

For instance – and let’s state the obvious here – like all of us, Trump has his flaws, one of them being hubris.

It got him into trouble more than once during his first term. And it was almost certainly going to follow him into his second.

Now, before I go any further, I’m not saying Trump will be a perfect president when he retakes the Oval Office. He’s still human, after all. Moreover, he’s still Trump.

I’m guessing we’ll still see some “interesting” social media posts, hear “interesting” comments from him, and read “interesting” facts (and fiction) about him.

But people are already saying there’s a new humility about him. And that humility is just what this country needs.

Throwing Out the Political Playbook

I know I’ve been controversial this week, but here’s a sentiment that should bring everyone together…

Politicians of any stripe and from any country are far too often arrogant. And arrogance never leads anywhere good, with end results including (but hardly limited to):

  • Passing dangerous laws

  • Increasing national debts to unsustainable levels

  • Interfering in matters that shouldn’t be interfered with

  • Diminishing liberties

  • Kicking cans down the road that only make bad situations worse

And all those lead to the countries these politicians represent becoming weaker in every regard possible: politically, economically, societally… The list goes on.

Here in America, it’s also led to greater and greater divisions between the parties, with both sides gaining more and more reasons to dislike each other.

But what could happen if we had leaders who realized they weren’t the eternal end-alls, be-alls, and know-alls of everything? Or, to put it another way, what if our politics were infused with a little more humility?

The way I see it, humility makes us more long-term minded. Instead of being swayed by momentary fads, flatteries, and forces, we consider more angles, ask ourselves what the real benefits will be for everyone involved, and reach much better solutions because of those efforts.

Indeed, the popular employer resource, has this to say about humility:

Bear in mind that humility doesn’t imply weakness or passive behavior. Humble leaders know their worth and can set proper boundaries for their peers, generating respect…

From a workplace perspective, it adds this then:

  • Boosts employee moral

  • Empowers team members

  • Promotes a positive work culture

  • Encourages open communication

  • Fosters helpful behaviors

  • Supports healthy work relationships

  • Increases productivity

If that’s true on a business level – which it is – imagine what it can do on a national and international level when implemented by the leader of the free world!

That’s where I think we’re headed thanks to Trump’s miraculous moment. And that’s why, now that I’ve had time to process everything, I’m excited about 2025 and beyond.

I hope you get every bit as excited to see all the positive things we’re in store for. While I hardly expect utopia, I do think it’s going to be good.
